Lettering Tattoos
Not every lettering piece is Fine Line, and not every Fine Line piece is lettering. Fine Line describes a line weight, lettering describes a subject: words, quotes, names. Some lettering is done very fine, other pieces need thicker, stronger lines to stay readable. A lettering tattoo lives on readability, today and ten years from now. The fair concern: do the letters blur into an unreadable line over time, especially with small text or ornate fonts?
Lettering is typography, not handwriting. Whoever tattoos it has to know when a serif gets too fine to hold, where a letter needs air, and which line weight carries a typeface without closing it up. Typeface, line weight and letter spacing are chosen so the text still reads clearly years later, not only on the day it is tattooed. On flowing typefaces the stroke weight is varied deliberately, so the fine transitions are not the first thing to fade.

What's the difference between Lettering and Fine Line?
Fine Line describes a very thin, even line weight, independent of subject. Lettering describes the subject itself, words, quotes, names, done in varying line weights depending on length and font. Many lettering pieces are done in Fine Line, but not all.
Which font works best for a tattoo?
It depends on the text and placement: short words or initials handle ornate fonts well, longer quotes usually need a clearer, more linear font to stay readable over the years. That is settled before the appointment, based on text length and body placement.
Can I get lettering done as a walk-in?
